Christo Chapidès was born in Samos (Greece) in 1909.
He settled in Paris in the 1930s, then married the daughter of the painter Henri-Jacques Delpy. He lived in Montmartre, near the "Bateau-Lavoir". In Paris, from 1939 to 1943, he exhibited landscapes, mostly of Paris, at the Salon des Artistes Indépendants. His favourite themes were Paris, Brittany and Greece.
